Mediation Training in Brussels (English)
Become a certified mediator with focus on strategic mediation / interest management
internationally recognised (IMI)
5 modules 3 days each
Target group
Our training to become a certified mediator is aimed at executives and freelancers who would like to complete a professional qualification.
The training course
Leading is conflict resolution! This applies all the more when hierarchical structures relativize or dissolve. In project teams and when working in cross-company groups, it is increasingly important to find conflict solutions beyond the hierarchical assertion of formal power. Special skills are required to recognize a conflict, understand the different perspectives on it and ultimately develop a solution. This solution is permanent if it is shared by all involved.
There are conflicts over and over again in everyday business, professional and corporate life. Conflicts are also not bad, but – apart from “pathological” special developments – expressions of different interests and situations in which the participants are. Conflicts are necessary to achieve progress – without the critical discussion, innovation and progress are inconceivable.
The skills required to turn a conflict into added value can be learned and practiced. Mediation as a structured process for the constructive settlement of conflicts is the most recognized method worldwide to resolve conflicts without the use of power and hierarchy, but through arguments, negotiation, working out interests and searching for a solution proposal that is as comprehensive as possible for different interests.
As the first training institute in Germany, we are proud to be pioneers adapting international standards in our mediation training and being part of an international network connected through the International Mediation Institute (IMI). Individuals who successfully complete our training program will be recognised as IMI Qualified Mediators.
What you will learn
With the training course to become a certified mediator, the CONSENSUS Campus offers further training geared precisely to these requirements.
In five concentrated lessons of three days each in a half-year period with practical exercises and use cases, you will acquire the skills you need for hierarchical leadership.
At the same time, through this course – in conjunction with a supervised recognition case – you will acquire a legally recognized professional qualification that will help you with your current or further tasks and, of course, if you would like to work as a freelancer in the field of mediation and conflict management offers.
We impart comprehensive knowledge that you need for successful and effective work in project teams, in cross-company groups and other hierarchical structures. At the same time, with the completion of all required services of the training course, you will receive an additional formal qualification, which you will need to carry out a qualified professional activity as a certified mediator.
The current legal situation says the following: In Germany, every mediator can call himself, who is responsible for “suitable training and regular further training”. The term certified mediator , on the other hand, has been legally protected since 2012 by Section 5 Paragraph 2 of the Mediation Act. Since September 1, 2017, all persons have been able to describe themselves as certified mediators who can prove by means of the meaningful certificate from a training institution that they
- have successfully completed a training course lasting at least 120 hours of attendance, the content of which is precisely specified by a legal regulation, and
- mediated a practical case during the training course or within a year afterwards and reflected on it in an individual supervision.
The part-time 120-hour basic training comprises 5 modules. Starting with the introduction to mediation, we then deal with communication skills as well as conflict and negotiation skills on a psychological basis and the role of law.
Module 1: Introduction to mediation – 24 h
Module 2: Phases of mediation, methods – 24 h
Module 3: Psychology in mediation – 24 h
Module 4: Law in mediation – 24 h
Final module: Negotiating, your own mediation style and final colloquium – 24 h
Your takeaways
After completing the training, you are able to handle exceptional situations such as to deal with conflicts with colleagues, in a team, with employees and in private in a constructive manner and to bring about economic success solutions.
With the successful completion of our part-time 120-hour basic training, you meet the requirements for a training course that complies with the statutory ordinance. We certify this to you in the form of a graduation certificate.
After you have also mediated or co-mediated a case of recognition and received a supervision certificate, CONSENSUS Campus will issue you with a certificate stating that you are entitled to hold the title of certified mediator. You then take care of the permanent receipt of the title on your own responsibility in accordance with the requirements of the Certified Mediators Ordinance (ZMediatAusbV) through four further supervised practical cases and regular further training.
Please note that this training course only takes place with at least 6 participants.
Optional add-on practice package
