Why become additionally certified?

The current legal situation states the following: In Germany, any mediator may call themselves a mediator if they provide for "appropriate training and regular continuing education" on their own responsibility. The designation of certified mediator, on the other hand, has been legally protected since 2012 by Section 5 (2) of the Mediation Act. Since September 1, 2017, all persons may call themselves certified mediators if they can prove, by means of a meaningful certificate from a training institution, that they

  • have successfully completed a training course of at least 120 attendance hours, the content of which is precisely specified by a legal ordinance and
  • have mediated a practical case (not a simulation) during the training course or within one year thereafter and reflected on it in an individual supervision session

What you can do afterwards

With the successful completion of the international mediation training, you have already completed 48 hours of live online training (Live Online Sessions + Q&A Sessions + Practice Sessions). With the 3 add-on modules, you will complete an additional 72 hours of mediation training. With the total of 120 hours of training, you fulfill the requirements for a training course that complies with the legal ordinance. We will certify this in the form of a certificate of completion.

After you have mediated or co-mediated a recognised case and received a supervision certificate, CONSENSUS Campus will issue you a certificate stating that you are entitled to use the title of certified mediator.

You are then responsible for ensuring that you retain the title on a permanent basis in accordance with the requirements of the Certified Mediator Ordinance (ZMediatAusbV) by completing four additional supervised practice cases and regular continuing education courses.

  • The accompaniment of a first own mediation by being available before and during the mediation for any questions

Why CONSENSUS Campus is for you

Real experts - real practical cases

All CONSENSUS trainers are experienced, practicing mediation professionals from the CONSENSUS team, which analyzes processes, develops strategies and carries out customized interventions for clients from business and administration. They come to your training seminar directly from a team building workshop, a coaching or a business mediation they just conducted. From time to time you even have the opportunity to attend a conflict resolution process in practice or an in-house workshop. As a result, you learn directly at the interface to practice and benefit from current CONSENSUS cases.

University approved

CONSENSUS Campus Trainings are certified by the International School of Management, a University of Applied Science in Germany. After the successful completion of the course, partcipants receive a certificate awarded by CONSENSUS and ISM.

Find your own practical cases: We help you!

To support you in this, CONSENSUS Campus is cooperating with, a specialized online search portal for mediation. As a CONSENSUS Campus graduate, you have the opportunity to be listed free of charge for one year on the respected platform with a personal profile, your photo, and a link to your homepage, in the upscale "Profi" contract model including expanded search functions. This increases your chances of gaining practical experience as a mediator in the shortest possible time, of finding your recognition case for initial certification and/or further cases for obtaining your title.
